Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW) was established along with the establishment of Agriculture and Forestry University in year 2010 A.D. (2067 B.S.) in Chitwan. The director of DSW is overall responsible to look after the day to day activities of the directorate. The major responsibilities which lies under DSW are: formulating and implementing rules and regulations related with student welfare, hostel management, and room allotment according to the criteria prepared by hostel management committee.

It is also devoted to organize the extracurricular activities such as indoor and outdoor games, short term trainings, educational tour, quiz contest, essay writing competition etc for student's physical and mental development.

The DSW is also responsible to manage and provide scholarships to the outstanding students as well as to provide counseling on teaching, research activities and further career development of the students. Furthermore, the directorate always stands for the student’s right and welfare. Hostel management committee has been established which is directly under the chairmanship of director of student welfare to conduct the hostel related activities smoothly. Six hostel wardens along with twenty supporting staff are at present working rigorously to make the students stay comfortable. At present altogether there are six hostels (one for girls and 5 for boys) accommodating approximately 500 students. Under this directorate, there is a dispensary near the hostel premises to provide basic health facilities to the students.
